Paul writes to the Corinthians about the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts. There are many gifts, ministries and activities given by God through the Spirit. Everyone has different gifts, but they are all given for the common good.

One body, many parts

Readings and bible notes for 27th January – 2nd February 2019

1 Corinthians 12.12-31a

Paul uses the analogy of a human body – having many parts with different functions, all of which must work together for the good of the whole – to insist that the Christians in Corinth, whatever their background or role within the church, must work together as the body of Christ.

Love is…

Readings and bible notes for 3rd - 9th February 2019

1 Corinthians 13.1-13

Paul says that spiritual gifts are worth nothing without love. Love is patient, kind, enduring and more; it is not envious, selfish or resentful. Love knows no boundaries, it is eternal and reaches completion in God.
